The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards is an international competition that recognizes properties that exemplify superior building quality and excellence in office building management. The TOBY Awards recognize excellence in office building management in 15 different categories based on size and facility type. Buildings are judged by all facets of building operations including energy management, tenant relations, community involvement, emergency preparedness, and security. To qualify for the international level of this competition, these buildings had to win the “The Outstanding Building of the Year” in a locally judged competition and also earn the TOBY regional distinction as determined by the Midwest Northern Region judges. The award is the most prestigious and comprehensive in the commercial real estate industry.
The 8200 Tower is an 11-story Class A office building, located in the Normandale Lake Office Park situated off Interstate 494 and Highway 100 in Bloomington, Minnesota. Comprised of 274,335 square feet, the building features an exterior of polished concrete panels and reflective blue glass, a two-story atrium, and an attached six-level parking structure. Currently, 97% occupied, the building is primarily occupied by AON, a global leader in the risk, retirement and health industry. The building was constructed in 2009 and attained LEED Gold Core & Shell certification. The building is Energy Star certified with a current score of 99.
